Lora has helped me grow so much in the three years we have been working together! We work on a variety of repertoire, with a focus on musical theater. She has a recital each year that gives all the students an opportunity to perform a piece we have been working on. In addition, she is always bringing in new exercises to work on tongue and jaw tension, my range, and belting.

My son began working with Lora during sixth grade. She helped him through his voice change, improved his confidence with performances at her recitals, coached him to awards at NATS competitions, prepared him for multiple successful musical auditions during high school, and assisted with college application videos. Our experience with Lora Libby has been very positive. Our son was five years old and had no
piano training when he started, and she has been a warm, friendly, enthusiastic companion on
this journey. She sets clear goals for him using carefully updated notes and practice
expectations and makes learning both self-directed and fun. Her comments and guidance are
incredibly patient and gentle.
It fills our house with joy when our son sits at the piano in his pajamas in the morning singing
and noodling away at ABBA and Queen songs. The Faber piano series she uses combines
popular and classical music. We’ve considered more rigorous classical piano teachers but really
appreciate Lora’s individualized approach that tailors lessons to a student’s interests with the
versatility to add voice lessons if desired.

It has been around a couple years since I have started piano lessons with Lora, and they have been extraordinary. I started during the beginning of quarantine, and thought I had every doubt in my mind that no one could ever make learning an instrument on Zoom, FaceTime or Google Meets, fun. But I was immediately dumbfounded when I started my lessons with Lora, she managed to entertain an impatient 9 year old me, while teaching me how to play the piano. And she has showed me so much. Around a year and a half ago, I had started singing, and I had been so embarrassed of singing in front of people. But with Lora’s lessons and encouragement I now have been a part of multiple programs and productions for school. Lora has helped me improve a lot as a pianist, a singer and a person. She has found a way to guide me through the struggles of being stuck behind a computer screen and the transition back to being in person.
